Manglehorn is a 2014 American drama film directed by David Gordon Green and written by Paul Logan. The film stars Al Pacino and Holly Hunter. Harmony Koine and Chris Messina. The film was chosen to be a contender for the Golden Lion at the 71st Venice International Film Festival.[2][3] The film was released in cinemas on the 19th of June, 2015 by IFC Films.

A.J. Manglehorn is a solitary Texas key-maker who spends the day caring for his cat, getting a sense of peace from his work and reminiscing about a long lost love. Then there’s the charming bank teller Dawn who is interested in the bizarre Manglehorn may just be able to pull him out from his cocoon.

The filming started in Austin on November 4 in 2013. The filming took place at various locations throughout the city for 25 days. The soundtrack was composed by Austin post-rock group Explosions in the Sky and David Wingo.

Manglehorn was met with mixed praise from critics. The film received mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Based on the 83 reviews it has an average rating of 51%, and a grade of 5.45/10. The consensus is: ” Manglehorn boasts a nicely understated performance by Al Pacino, but that isn’t enough to compensate for the shaky story and uneven script.” On Metacritic, the film has an average score of 56 out of 100 based on reviews by 26 critics, giving “mixed or average reviews”.
